Failure mechanisms in detectors, PhD
This project aims to better understand the failure mechanisms of Geiger Muller tubes, and from this, to develop tubes that work reliably at high temperature. It may prove to be the case that a more complete understanding of the failure mechanisms may also lead to the design of a Geiger detector that has greater efficiency. This would have the benefit of allowing smaller sources to be used.
