This is an exciting PhD (Research Degree) project in developing key technologies for Electric Vehicle. This project targets for converting existing petrol fuelled vehicles with the most cost effective kit to an Electric Vehicle. Advanced operation and control of the motor, battery set and power electronics will be investigated to develop a high-efficiency and low-cost solution. The outputs from the project will enable a manufacturer to increase the mileage achievable on a single charge, whilst simultaneously reducing the amount and size of lithium batteries, which in turn will reduce the weight and hence reduce the environmental impact of the EVs. The PhD candidate should have at least a 2.1 B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering.
