4 year PhD Studentship in Genomics, non-coding RNAs and Cancer

The Paterson Institute is offering first rate international graduates the chance to train for a four year PhD in Computational Genomics within the Applied Computational Biology Group.

Using Next Generation Sequencing data, the project will explore the role of ncRNAs in cancer. The goal is to identify and characterize novel regulatory molecules of direct functional importance in cancer. It is highly interdisciplinary and is open to candidates with a background in either the biological- or the numeric- sciences. Students with a strong desire to work at the boundary between genomics, clinical- and basic- science are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Paterson Institute is a leading cancer centre of excellence, core-funded by Cancer Research UK and is at the heart of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre. All students benefit from the dynamic research environment within the Institute and state-of-the-art service units. Our training programme aims to improve effectiveness in research, provide professional and management skills, and enhance career development.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Crispin Miller, the Postgraduate Tutor at: pgt@picr.man.ac.uk. To find out more about our research, full details of the projects, plus application forms, please visit our website by clicking the "Apply Now" button.
