This exciting course in Environmental Management is designed to give you the theoretical and practical skills needed to develop, implement and manage a resource strategy for a public or private sector organisation. In particular, it will show you how achieve sustainable natural resource development within a framework of economic growth.

This course was developed by Nottingham Trent University in collaboration with Loreus Ltd, an experienced environmental training and consultancy company. This joint venture will ensure that the course delivers leading edge theoretical content underpinned by practical consultancy experience.

Modules are assessed by a variety of different types of course work. The research project/dissertation module will involve the design implementation and reporting of a major research task. There are no examinations involved.

This course will be largely delivered by distance learning, which allows you to work at a time and at a pace that suits you. It is ideal if you are working or studying abroad. We will use a state-of-the-art e-learning system which has been proven to be highly effective and easy to use. Each module contains case studies for you to work through to help you to understand the theory. There are also quizzes so that you can test your understanding of the concepts involved. There will be several support mechanisms to help you such as an email helpline and online discussion boards. It is essential, therefore, that you have access to a standalone PC or shared network using Windows NT3.5.1, NT4.0, ME 2000 or XP operating system, with 10MB disk space and with appropriate access permission set. You will also need an email facility and access to the internet.

Although you will study much of the course by distance learning, it is important that you feel part of a coherent group and that you meet others on the course as well as your academic and commercial tutors. This is one of the reasons why the practical resource management module will be delivered as a seven-day intensive residential course. This method of delivery has also been chosen because it is the most efficient use of time for those in work or studying abroad.
