The MSc in Mechatronics Engineering is a 12 month full-time masters degree programme in the School of Mechanical and Systems Engineering at Newcastle University.
The programme aims to provide postgraduate students with a background in Engineering and Science the knowledge and skills to enable them to work in an interdisciplinary environment which integrates Mechanical and Electronic Engineering with Computing and Control. Courses on sensors and actuators, embedded microprocessors, and control will help to develop the Mechatronic concept from design to system. Students will also get the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects which will allow them to develop their mechatronic expertise in areas such as bio-medical engineering and robotics. Examples of recent projects include design of prosthetic hands; dental wear testing; mobile robot navigation and localisation.
Applicants should have at least a 2.2 Honours degree (or equivalent) and an English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent). Expected fees for 2010/11 (not yet confirmed): Overseas: full time £13,765 UK/EU: full time £4,320.
