Research Studentship in Advanced and Bio Materials –
New Dimensions of Engineering Science at Large Facilities (NDES)



We wish to appoint to the above Research Studentship which is funded by the EPSRC and available for 47 months. The project is aimed at the development of characterisation and modelling tools for advanced and bio materials, from natural to engineered systems used in a range of applications from biomedical engineering to aerospace.



You will have a good undergraduate or masters degree in materials, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry or related subject together with a high level of mathematical, computational and analytical ability. Excellent skills in software writing, data analysis, visualisation and experimentation are essential. Significant experience in experimental data collection and analysis, high motivation and excellent planning skills are desirable. This post is only open to applicants from within the EU. Candidates who are UK or EU nationals, or who have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the last 3 years are eligible for a fully funded studentship. In this case the remuneration will be £14200 p.a. (and will increase in subsequent years), with all fees paid.
